5th Global Conference on Child Labor

I arrived in Durban, South Africa on thursday ahead of the 5TH GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON THE ELIMINATION OF CHILD LABOUR scheduled to start on May 15 and ending on May 20 of 2022. As a member state of the International Labour Organization , and also a member of the SADC this conference is pivotal to our efforts in dealing with child Labour as a country. You may wish to know we have about 160 million Children in Child Labour Globally, and 8.4 million of those have just been added between the years of 2017 to 2022. As a country we have about 2.1 Million Children in Child Labour, and we can not pay a blind eye to issues concerning Child Labour because they affect our social economic system largely depends on us eliminating child labor.The key role for my ministry in this conference is to implement the code of conduct for the elimination of child Labour within the SADC region as well as escalating the lessons learnt throughout Africa and globally.Also attending the conference will be His Right Honorable Dr. Saulos Chilima the Vice President of Malawi, His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa the President of the Republic of South Africa and the Malawi High Commissioner Stella Ndau.
