It is pleasing to note that the Chinese Government has supported the Government of Malawi with five Community Technical Colleges, namely: Kavinkhama in Mzimba, Mtonda in Ntcheu, Nansomba in Mulanje, Tengani in Nsanje and Sakata here in Zomba. And today it was my humble duty as the minister of Labour to officially handover the colleges to their district representatives.
These colleges are unique as they have state-of-art equipment in the workshops. The five colleges will increase access to technical and vocational skills by six hundred students and will also provide employment opportunities to over 80 Malawians.
The colleges will ensure that graduates from these colleges are relevant and marketable in industry. Even if the graduates open their own enterprises, the skills acquired using the modern equipment will enable them make marketable products.
